Unless a photograph is specifically identified otherwise, every photograph published on this website is © Brittany Templin. All rights are reserved. The website design, field-journal writing, captions, and original editorial material are also protected.
Viewing the website does not transfer ownership or grant a license to copy, reproduce, publish, distribute, display, modify, sell, or create derivative works from its photographs.
Sharing that is welcome
You are welcome to share a direct link to a page on The Visual Life List. A link allows others to see the photograph in its original context, with its caption, field journal, creator credit, and licensing information intact.
Uses that require permission
Prior written permission and an appropriate license are required before downloading or copying a photograph for reuse, reposting it to another website or social account, publishing it in print or digital media, using it in a presentation or exhibit, creating prints or merchandise, incorporating it into advertising or promotional material, or using it for commercial, editorial, conservation, educational, or organizational purposes.
Permission is also required before using the photographs in datasets, machine-learning or artificial-intelligence training, automated content systems, image libraries, or other forms of computational reuse.
Attribution and metadata
A credit line does not replace a license. Copyright notices, creator credits, captions, embedded metadata, and other rights-management information may not be removed, obscured, or altered.

To request permission, describe the photograph and intended use through the licensing inquiry form. Approved use begins only after the scope and terms are confirmed in writing.
Legal exceptions
Nothing in this notice is intended to restrict a use that applicable law expressly permits without authorization. Whether a particular use qualifies for a legal exception depends on its specific facts.
